# Clone Instance

# Introduction

One handy feature we provide is the ability to create a 1:1 clone of a Mautic instance.

You can, for example, use this feature to create a template / baseline pre-configured instance, which you simply clone each time you need to create an instance for a customer.

The cloning feature works by creating a new Mautic instance and triggering a copy migration of all available assets.

# Clone

To clone an instance click the gearbox icon next to it and then click Clone.

Next choose a new subdomain name for the instance and click Clone.

A new instance will be created and once it's properly setup and working a copy migration will be triggerred, copying all available assets from the source instance.

# Troubleshooting

Here's a list of common issues you might encounter and their solutions.

In order to clone an instance your current subscription plan must have enough available / unused resources to fit the new instance.

In contrast to creating a new instance, cloning will also mirror the delegated resources of the source instance. For example, if your source instance has 5,000 delegated contacts, the new one will also be delegated 5,000 contacts (instead of the default 100).

If in this case your subscription does not have 5,000 unused contacts, the cloning feature will be unavailable for this particular instance.

Move your mouse over the button to view more info about the exact reason you can't clone the instance.
